Who We Are
In accordance with the All Faiths Seminary's tradition of "never insteady of, always in addition to," Rev. Dave remains committed to his Jewish and Zen Buddhist practices, while acting as a bridge between other faiths and a help to those who have no religious background or specific religious interest but who would like to pursue their own spiritual path.
He studied Torah and Kabbalah with his beloved Rabbi, Rabbi Bennett Hermann, of Temple Emanu-El of Long Beach, as a private student. He studied with his beloved Rebbe, Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, the founder of the All Faiths Seminary International, during 2008-2009, culminating in his ordination in June of 2009. He studied Torah tropes with Cantor (and opera singer) David Katz of Long Beach.
Rev. Dave has been studying Kabbalah for many years, especially the works of Ravs. Yehuda and Michael Berg (The Way, The Power of Kabbalah and God Wears Lipstick - Kabbalah for Women), along with those of Rabbi Gelberman (Physician of the Soul), who regularly incorporated Kabbalah into his Interfaith Minister classes.
Rev. Dave has long studied and practiced the works and lives of the Dalai Lama (The Art of Happiness, How to Practice), Thich Nhat Hanh (The Essential Thich Nhat Hanh; Be Here, Where You Are) and Steve Hagen (Buddhism Plain and Simple).
Rev. Dave is available for weddings, funerals, memorials, baby namings and other blessings. He can provide spiritual and pastoral counseling, including discussion, prayer and meditation and, perhaps most important, a kind and listening ear.
